Mallow

Botanical name: Malva neglecta

Part used: Leaf and flower

Gifts from this plant:

Mallow is considered a weed. It grows in disturbed soil in garden beds, animal pastures and on the side of the road.

Mallow is one of the great nourishing, edible weeds. It is high in minerals and is as good for you as any leafy green such as chard of kale. Chop up mallow leaves and add them to salads or steam them like you would spinach or kale.

Mallow is also a great herb for healing the skin. You can make a poultice with it and put it on cuts, scrapes and insect bites. It helps to soothe and cool the skin.
