Borage

Botanical name: Borago officinalis

Part used: Leaf and flower

Gifts from this plant: This is one of the main edible flowers that I decorate my food with. The blue flowers go well with savory dishes, salads and desserts, drinks, well just about everything. The young and medium sized leaf can be steamed or sautéed and eaten like any green vegetable.

Don’t worry, the prickly hairs on the leaf disappear once it is cooked. The leaf is also a useful poultice that helps to heal cuts and scrapes.
